Prayer Ministry Training

Do you have a heart for hurting people? Join us for an exciting prayer workshop to gain insights and practical tools to help you pray for others. Recommended for those on church healing teams and in pastoral care, Alpha leaders and helpers, and for all those who are eager to experience God’s healing power through prayer.
Betsy Lee, president of Prayer Ventures, will lead the sessions. Betsy has written several books on prayer including The Healing Moment and Prayer Is a Welcome Place. She has been involved in prayer ministry for twenty years: training prayer teams and teaching seminars and mobilizing whole churches to pray.
“This workshop gave me a great chance to learn how to pray with other people,” says Dave Olson. “It’s not so hard once you are shown how to do it and get a chance to practice. This is really powerful stuff! It’s amazing what God will do for people if you just ask.”
The training is Christ-centered and biblically based, with lots of hands-on practice praying with and for each other.
Topics include:
- Jan 10 — Biblical foundation for prayer ministry. Does God heal today? Yes! How? Through you and me, the Body of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit.
- Jan 17 — How to discern what to pray for and know how to pray. Learning to listen with both ears: with one to the Holy Spirit and one to the person being prayed for.
- Jan 24 — Discussion of basic kinds of healing: sickness of the body, emotions, or spirit. What is the cause of sickness? Which prayer method should be used?
- Jan 31 — Working as a team in prayer ministry and caring for yourself as a prayer minister: importance of protection, prayer partners, being in the Word, leading a holy life.
Classes will be held Thursday nights 6:30-8:30 PM at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church (14107 Hudson Road S, Afton MN 55001) on January 10, 17, 24 & 31. A community-wide healing service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley (Saturday, February 2, 7:00-8:30 pm) so you can practice what you’ve learned.
The cost for the training is $50. Married couples can attend for $75 and students for $30. Ask your church to sponsor you. If you need scholarship help, please email Debbie Scott or call 952/942-9016.
